Then I got some of my pants marked for tailoring. I hate having to try my clothes on as the seamstress marks them up. But hey, four "new" pairs 'o' pants as of next Wednesday... I can't wait!
After that, I went to, eh, Zona Rosa again. Dude, I had to! But before burrito, I made a pit stop at Giant Robot to see how things are going. They have the coolest stuff, and I always walk out wanting one of everything in the store. I spied two paintings in their gallery that I would love love love to have for our house.
To be specific, I want "Alien #4 (Chewy)" by Munkao:

And I want "Diaspora Anxiety", also by Munkao:

While I perused the tasty goods at Giant Robot, some dude started screaming on the street outside Zona Rosa. Given how rarely I stop into GR while I'm getting my burritos, I had to wonder if it was some sort of divine intervention. It kept me in the store longer than I probably would have naturally stayed, and more importantly I avoided the very awkward and scary situation of dealing with a Haight Street homeless person. The dude's rant went on for a good five minutes and included such greatest hits as, "Fuck you, whore! Fuck you!" At some point, a woman started screaming back at him to shut up. Hopefully it wasn't some unsuspecting female tourist who the guy targeted in his break.
Once I got home, I set up camp:
Nope, I did not watch New Moon while I was eating. (I had to wait for Honey Bunny to watch with me, so we can see Eclipse in the theater together!) Instead I caught up on BGM:
(Yes, that is a framed Giant Robot print above the TV. Thanks for asking!)
It was a hard one to watch. Given that HB and I are trying to have a kid... it struck a nerve. Bethenny gets ON my nerves, especially with all her latest talk about how she's so "disgusting" with her fat body (I hate when thin women who are pregnant say that), but I do relate to how she processes the things that are happening to her, and I see a lot of Honey Bunny in Jason too, and ultimately that's why I watch the show.
You know, I have not mentioned my kitties this entire time! They are the cutest, sweetest little kids on the planet.

We are currently teaching them how to be independent and adventuresome, but still attached to us and the apartment, in preparation for when they start going into the backyard. First step was the back staircase down to the garage, and they have more or less mastered it. (More like they're bored with it.) For the last few days in the middle of the day when no one is coming or going from any of the garage doors, I've slowly introduced them to the garage. They're still wiggy about it, which is to be expected. The best thing is that one comes back to me immediately when called and the other will come immediately if I rattle the treats container. Today, I went down into the garage with them to do some laundry, and they let me approach and pet them. We're getting there. It will be awhile before they're allowed in the backyard on leash, and a much, much longer while until they are trustworthy and bonded to us enough to go off-leash and come back when called.
Post burrito and kitty-hangout, I headed out to Daly City. It's a fine San Franciscan tradition when faced with needing a big box store fix.
I went to Avenue first, which was kinda fun! Once upon a time, they had racks and racks of older lady clothes made in cheap fabrics. Now they are really establishing themselves as being on-trend and I would even liken them to Old Navy Women's Plus... meaning they have racks and racks of younger lady clothes made in cheap fabrics. They have lowered their prices, though, which I appreciate given the quality of the construction and fabric. I made away with two much-needed tops and a necklace for $40 total.
Next I went to Bed Bath and Beyond for a new kitchen trash can. Meh. That's all I'll say about that experience.
Upon returning to my car, I discovered a young person had parked his lowered Acura next to mine and it had this lovely airbrushed image on the hood:
How very much like Princess Valhalla Hawkwind! (I heart United States of Tara.)
On my way home, I called my BFF and we had one of our biennial fights. Well, they used to be fights, now they're more like Serious Adult Conversations. It was lengthy and emotional and intense, and I had to pull over in a nearby suburb to sit quietly and focus.
All is well on the BFF front once more, I think.
To cap off the day, I watched New Moon. It's my favorite so far of the Twilight movies. The first movie got me by the balls with the scene of Bella and Edward in the meadow when they are first falling in love, which had behind it a haunting little ballad played on piano and classical guitar. This movie featured a very groovy chase scene of Victoria by the wolf pack (and Bella jumping off the cliff), set to Thom Yorke's "Hearing Damage". I love when imagery and music pair so well and create film magic.
If you're wondering, here's whose team I'm on:

Since I'm behind the times with this Twilight stuff, all I knew of Taylor Lautner was what I'd see in the tabloids. I always thought he was kinda fugly and didn't understand what all the hype was. Now I get it. He was Hot with a capital H with his long hair, and the transition to six-pack and short hair in New Moon was believable and justified. Hot Hot Hot. Robert Pattinson, on the other hand, was hot as Cedric Diggory, but is NOT hot as vampire Edward. Bella, are you high?
