Day 9: Let's do nothing

This is how the majority of Day 9 at my house looked:

Everyone was sleepy and in the mood to do nothing.

I forgot to mention that at the Day 8 point, this became Our Mutual Staycation rather than just My Staycation. Well, at least until Wednesday of this week. Honey Bunny took off Mon - Weds to hang out with me and do some stuff on his own as well, which I love. Given that we won't be able to take our usual two-week annual honeymoon vacation this year around Labor Day, this is really our only opportunity to have some together off-work time this summer. We'll take some time off around the beginning of October to road-trip somewhere, but it won't be quite the same. The weather seems to turn abruptly Fall-like around that time of year in the west, when all I generally want to do on our road trips is find places to swim. We'll see.

I finally got a haircut! My usual stylist, Nancy, is out of town for two months on a leave of absence and to be honest, I don't trust her coworkers to do as good a job as she does. To be even more honest, I've been thinking of defecting anyhow. I love the color work Nancy does on my hair, and she did my wedding 'do, and she's the coolest person, and I love the little salon she co-owns. But... sometimes you need a breath of fresh air, a new perspective.

I decided I'd try Mane Attraction in Cole Valley, and it was pretty cool. It was dead quiet in there, which I appreciated given my level of anxiety. My stylist, Lesley, was super relaxed and casual. Most importantly, I saw that she had full sleeve tattoos on both arms, which I've come to learn is the mark of a great stylist in this town. (Nancy has them too, including a large portion dedicated to her beloved cat who passed away, and so we once bonded over our kitty memorial tattoos.) I told Lesley I wanted something not too different from what I currently have, but just cleaned up and shortened. She did exactly that but with her own flair. Yahoo!

The other great thing about the salon is that when I entered a cute little chihuahua ran up and greeted me. I love businesses where pets are allowed to accompany their companions to work. This cutie-pie's name was Bling Bling and she was a wee teacup chihuahua not of the shakey and scared variety. She ran right up with tail wagging, took some pets and affection from this animal lover, and then cheerfully cruised around the salon until it was quittin' time for her dog dad. When it was time to go, he opened up her soft-sided carrier, called her, and she jumped right in (nearly upending herself in the process, cute!), settled down and off they went. Cute cute cute.

Mane Attraction is a Bumble & bumble salon, which is why I chose it. Lesley, herself, has done some training with B&b as well. Thus I was treated to some razoring in my 'do and was styled using a lot of the same products I use at home, which are not animal-tested. Overall, a total success.
